Their Story

Baavet started in 2009 when farm owners Roger and Lesley Payne, were looking for a farm diversity scheme. Since wool prices were rock bottom they felt that something made out of their wool and other local farmers would be a good idea. On a short journey to a friend’s house they came up with the idea of a wool duvet.

Why does your business choose to use British wool?

Baavet has chosen to use British wool, firstly because the business came from a farming background and still is very much part of the beginning of the wool supply chain. But also Baavet is very much committed to promoting British products in general and wool in particular since Britain was once the world’s leading producer and manufacturer of wool products.

What inspires your brand/design process?

Baavet, from its inception, has set out to promote the health benefits of wool, to help convert the British public back to wool for bedding. But also to promote the sustainability of wool and by using British wool and manufacturing process here in the UK reduce the products carbon footprint. Our wool and product has a round trip of about 300 miles before going out to the public. So we can say it’s from Ewe to You.
