New colourways for Yoredale, a bouclé made from British wool

Back in 2019, Camira first introduced its the range of Yoredale upholstery bouclé fabrics. And have now launched a new colourway for Spring 2023. Expanding the product’s palette to 33 colourways, introducing a selection of pastels, neutrals, denim blues, and rusted reds.

Leading in upholstery fabric

Camira’s textile roots can be traced all the way back to 1783, when a British company named Bradbury Fabrics was founded in Huddersfield. Not far from where our current manufacturing takes place today. Acquired by Camira in 2012, the company specialised in contract textiles.

Now home to over 100 looms, the Huddersfield site produces over 220,000 metres of fabric each week.

Many of us will have seen and even sat on Camira designed and manufactured fabric without knowing. As Camira’s fabrics are used throughout Transport for London and LNER trains, including the recent Elizabeth Line. All using British wool for its elasticity and durability.

The Inspiration and Provenience

The Yoredale fabric is inspired, designed, and made in the company’s home of Yorkshire, England, taking its name from the ancient title of Wensleydale, a picturesque dale in the county.

A celebration of the rugged, time weathered Yorkshire landscape which has captivated artists and designers throughout the ages. This scenery is now perfectly encapsulated in a beautifully textured, naturally sustainable British wool fabric.

Inspired by nature, authentically recreated, skilfully crafted, Yoredale encompasses the very essence of Camira, and everything we are proud to be.

Continuing trend of Bouclé

Woven from British wool, the fabric contains an innovative black binder yarn. Which highlights the texture of the bouclé and creates an appealing visual detail.

Certified for use in commercial and residential environments. Yoredale appeals to the home, hospitality, and workplace, and the new colour palette has been developed to reflect the blurred boundary world of today’s interiors.

The trend of bouclé upholstery continues to gain popularity and is seen throughout the high street and high-end interiors.

Hayley Barrett, Senior Designer at Camira, led the colour development for Yoredale and comments on the new shades,

“These tones have been carefully developed to appeal to the way we live and work today; the colours we want to be surrounded by, whether that’s in our living room or office. There are soft, delicate shades that instantly sooth; warmer, almost burnt, hues that welcome and invite; and neutrals that ground. It’s a palette for now, but it also has the timeless tones that will never go out of style – much like Yoredale itself; a modern fabric, with a look and feel that is without age.”
