WHO ARE WE?
Devon Duvets is a family-run business, owned by husband and wife team Dick and Pauline Beijen. Gaining inspiration from living in a beautiful part of the country, our fantastic range of eco-friendly 100% natural bedding products, including our fabulous award-winning wool duvets, are handcrafted by a team of professional seamstresses in our Devon workshops. Our products are 100% sustainable – even down to the packaging we use.
BACKGROUND TO THE COMPANY
In 2008, Dick and Pauline Beijen decided they needed a change of lifestyle and left their busy international careers for a smallholding on Dartmoor. They started with beekeeping, soap making and other crafts, expanding into breeding sheep for the production of wool-based products, including for developing their idea of making wool duvets.
In 2009, they were approached by the production company for the Channel 4 programme ‘My Dream Farm’, hosted by Monty Don. Following the airing of the programme in 2010, Dick and Pauline started supplying top UK retailer John Lewis & Partners with a range of wool bedding products. Commercial production started in 2010 and Devon Duvets was born.
Now also selling direct to thousands of happy customers, our natural wool bedding is made from 100% British wool, certified by British Wool.
For our wool duvets, wool mattress toppers and wool pillows we only ever use wool from live sheep, sheared in Spring and Summer in the traditional way, and when they need to be shorn, to be relieved of their heavy fleeces that have grown during the Winter.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND INNOVATION
The most recent development is our THREE Duvets 100% natural bedding solution, an innovative, patented design that is revolutionising duvet sharing for couples. THREE Duvets utilises two separate duvet sections that can be seamlessly joined together to make one duvet for you both. This allows you and your partner to each choose the filling and tog to suit your individual needs but still share one duvet. The sections can be created with any fillings used to make our wool duvets, alpaca wool duvets or Botanic duvets.
Each one of our bedding products is individually handcrafted, with love and care, by our talented seamstresses here, in Devon. This means, that in addition to our range of standard bedding sizes, we are also able to make bespoke products to your specific requirements, including wool mattress toppers for campervans, caravans and boats.
We are committed to responsible sourcing for all the materials that make up our products, so whichever bedding you choose, you’ll be tucked up with a 100% natural, 100% sustainable, 100% eco-friendly product.
“We have been working with British Wool for many years and are keen to do all we can to ensure the farmers received the best possible price for their wool”
