Shaun the Sheep Turns 30 – and He’s Asking: Can Ewe Knit It?

This year, everyone’s favourite fleecy friend is celebrating a woolly big milestone – Shaun the Sheep is turning 30!

To mark three decades of stop-motion stardom, Aardman has teamed up with British Wool, the Campaign for Wool, and community craft organisation Craft Forward to launch a heartwarming global initiative: Can Ewe Knit It?

A Global Celebration with a Local Impact

Fans and crafters around the world are invited to knit or crochet a 20x20cm Shaun-inspired square, using real wool wherever possible. All the squares will come together this October at a public event in London. To create handmade blankets for unhoused people across the capital, as part of Craft Forward’s Blankets for London campaign.

Wool for the project has been generously donated by West Yorkshire Spinners, ensuring each square is made with 100% British Wool – the perfect fibre for this homegrown hero!

A Cause Close to the Fleece

We’re proud to be supporting this campaign. Not only does it promote creativity and kindness, but it also puts British wool at the heart of a project that brings people together – and gives back to those who need it most.

It’s a celebration of community, craft, and that unmistakably fluffy fleece that’s made Shaun a household name for 30 years.

Why It Matters

Aardman’s beloved character has always stood for innovation, fun, and togetherness. Now, Can Ewe Knit It? turns those values into action – combining Shaun’s worldwide fanbase with the warmth of crafting for a cause.

Craft Forward has already distributed over 470 handmade blankets through its Blankets for London project, and this latest collaboration aims to go even further – with a longer-term goal of launching Blankets for the World.

Whether you knit one square or a whole stack, every piece matters.
