Description
Humbug Wool Top
Wool top can be used for felting, spinning yarn, and various fibre arts projects.
This range is available in three different blends from Wingham Wool.
Please note that as with all natural fibres there can be slight shade variation between the batches we produce.
Types Available
- Bluefaced Leicester
One of the classic British breeds, and has been one of the staples at Wingham Wool for over 40 years. While its strong, sturdy breed of sheep, the wool is some of the softest from the traditional British breeds, which makes it a great choice for fibre-crafts.
- Jacob
The original humbug wool top, the Jacob fleeces are selected for quality and the shades separated to get the best handle for the wool type. They are then carded and combed
Combining three different shades of Jacob wool tops and blend them together to create this wonderful fibre.
Jacob is a great general purpose wool for jumpers, it is a good balance between softness and durability. Once spun it gives a very pleasing effect as each of the colours blend together in the spinning and plying. For wet felting it produces a good hard felt suitable for bags and hats.
- Shetland
White Shetland and Shetland Moorit, blended to give a striped beige effect.
Used for traditional Fair Isle knitwear and fine shawls; also used in blends to improve the handle and appearance of yarns for clothing. Shetland fleeces can come in a wide variety of shades, 11 main whole colours are recognised. We stock White, Light Grey, Grey, Moorit (brown) and Black.
Colour Disclaimer
We try to ensure that every product we stock is accurately represented online, however this can sometimes be tricky as there is a huge variation on how different displays present colours. Sample shade sets or individual sampling packs are available for many of the fibres.
If you receive any product that does match your expectations then we will replace or refund it once returned. Please contact us if this is the case.
